Celebrating the Malaysian Songbook
TARAKUCHA! is the Terrer-Menerrer Big Band with a Malaysian Twist. The brainchild of Malaysian singer and actor, Sean Ghazi, Tarakucha! features a 12-piece big band led by musical director, Nish Tham, with supporting vocals by Ida Mariana of Kebaya Jazz fame, and The Kuchettes - Izlyn Ramli, Maya Tan and Ruzana Ibrahim.
The Tarakucha! repertoire celebrates Malaysia's musical heritage with songs by the nation's great composers, artistes and songwriters including P. Ramlee, Sudirman, and Jimmy Boyle among others, while taking inspiration from global influences, and also featuring their own original compositions. Its big band sound transcends language, the musical genres of jazz, latin and modern classics, packaged with humour, culture and theatre.
